With 1,000 exhibits, 3,500m² of floor space and covering three centuries, an exhibition of this size held in two separate buildings may seem a little overwhelming for some people. So if you prefer, we are offering you the opportunity to take a guided tour. We’ve worked out a range of different programmes to meet the interests of specific user groups. You can choose from:

Guided tours on Sundays, with painting for children

Every Sunday at 2.30pm:            A guided tour for adults giving a general overview of the exhibition in Hohenberg
Tour lasts:                approx. 1½ hours
Price:                         3.50 € per person

At the same time (i.e. also starting at 2.30pm.) children have the opportunity to enjoy china painting in Hohenberg and in Selb.
Price:                        1.80 € per child
No advance booking necessary.

Peasants, the middle-class and nobility – Porcelain for everyone. From castle to canteen – an amusing journey through Europe’s table manners and eating culture.

Followed by a canteen meal as taken in the 1920s, in the historic mass mill, for groups of minimum 20 people (max. 60 people)

Nature tours

Nature – the area in Hohenberg and all around the museum provides plenty of opportunity to study nature at first hand. Inside, you’ll find numerous representations of the natural world – you only need to think of the china painters and their floral and landscape motifs. Outside, all around the former Hutschenreuther Villa, the founder of north Bavaria’s porcelain dynasty, Carolus Magnus Hutschenreuther, set up a monument to his love of gardens. Hutschenreuther’s intention was to set his workers a good example and encourage them to grow their own fruit and vegetables – decorative plants were not his chief focus of interest. The guided tour will show you both: nature with its visual appeal, and as a source of enjoyable and nourishing food; the artistic aspect of nature in painting and in horticulture!
